OIL DISCOVERY IN UGANDA TO BOOST TOURISM

Protecting biodiversity and conserving the environment during oil and gas production will boost tourism in Uganda, Experts say. This was during a meeting for tour operators and other tourism stakeholders, organized by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

According to experts, oil exploration is expected to boost tourism in the park as more visitors are expected.

The meeting held in Kampala recently discussed how the tourism industry would embrace the benefits accruing from the oil and gas industry and find solutions to counter the negative impacts.

The principle geologist; Fred Kabanda said that the development of oil and gas sector is expected to generate revenue which will increase with the level of production.

Murchison falls national Park is home to lions, buffalos, giraffes, hippos, Uganda kobs, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks and hartebeests, among other animal species and is the third most visited park in Uganda renowned for wildlife safaris.
