EAST AFRICA FOR SINGLE TOURIST VISAS

The council of ministers at the recently held single East African Community (EAC) set a target of 2010, for the introduction of the single EAC visa.
The introduction will encourage free movement of tourists within east Africa without having to pay at each entry point.
The meeting which took place in Nairobi from the 29th-31st July 2009 was attended by chiefs of immigration, Heads of Tourism Boards and Directors of Tourism from Uganda, which was represented by General Manager Uganda Tourist Board, James Bahinguza, and the commissioner for Tourism Ministry of Tourism Trade and Industry, Grace Aulo.
Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi were also represented, and a committee was immediately set up to convene and report on the implications of a single visa.
