HIPPOS MIGRATE TO MUNYONYO

Munyonyo in Kampala has become a new home for a school of hippos.
The three hippos, an adult male and a mother hippo accompanying her baby have become a regular spectacle at the shores of Lake Victoria at Speke Resort, Munyonyo as they are often sighted in the evenings at around 6:00pm and early in the morning.
It is rare to see hippos in this part of the country, and there presence has added value to Speke Resort Munyonyo, which is now hosting clients, who are excited about the hippos.
According to Robert Mukasa, a local fisherman, the male hippo probably lost a territorial battle with superior males in the larger school, forcing it to migrate.
