A 4 DAY PRIVATE SAFARI
ITINERARY TO LAKE MBURO AND QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Day 1
Abacus safari guide will meet you and depart by road for Lake
Mburo National Park. You will have a stop over at the Equator
for photographs and snacks. On your way to the park, game-drive
as you check in Mantana Tented Camp (basic) or Rwonyo rest
Camp (budget). After lunch, enjoy a boat ride in Lake Mburo
amidst Hippos. Other animals like Crocodiles herons, African
King fisher, Fish Eagles, Pelicans, Crested Cranes including
local fishermen and fishing villages may be seen. Evening
guided walks can also be arranged.
Overnight at Rwonyo camp or Mantana tented camp (FB).
Day 2
After breakfast make an early morning game drive and expect
to see Zebras, Warthogs, Elands, Uganda kob, Buffaloes and
many birds. Depart to Mbarara stopping for Lunch at Regency
Hotel or Agip Motel Mbarara. Make a scenic drive to Queen
Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain
range for much of the journey. A game drive en route may be
rewarded with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes,
Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species.
After checking in and having some time to relax, go sightseeing
in the crater region - it is a marvel! Visit the Katwe Salt
works for a glimpse into traditional salt mining.

Day 3
This day, you will drive to Kyambura gorge before sunrise
for a thrilling chimpanzee trek. The gorge is a natural home
of habituated chimps. Your guided walk may last three to five
hours. You will also have sightings of colobus, velvet, and
red tailed monkeys, baboons and other primates.
Return to the lodge and after lunch, drive to the jetty on
the Kazinga channel for a 2 hour afternoon launch cruise.
The waterway is filled with schools of hippos. Buffalos and
elephants can be seen at the banks, and there are also a rich
variety of marine birds on the channel. Retire to your accommodation
for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
Wake up before sunrise to go for an early morning game drive
to catch up with the early risers and predators returning
to their hideouts. You are likely to meet grazing hippos,
elephants, bushbucks, waterbucks, lions, spotted hyenas, stripped
jackals and of course the several warthogs. Return to the
lodge for late breakfast before departing to Kampala with
lunch en-route arriving in the early evening. Your safari
guide will see you to your hotel.
