3 DAYS BWINDI NATIONAL PARK GORILLA TOUR

The Tour takes you to Bwindi impenetrable National Park. The Park is located in the South Western part of Uganda in the Albertine rift, on the edge of the western rift valley.
The park is a habitat to 326 gorillas almost half of the world's population of mountain gorillas. The forest which is coldest in June-July has a wide range of species including 120 species of mammals, over 200 species of butterflies, 7 diurnal primates, about 30 elephants and 360 species of birds. Bwindi Impenetrable forest has about 324 tree species including vines, shrubs and ferns of which 10 don't occur else in Uganda.
The park spread over the districts of Kabale, Rukungiri and Kisoro Districts, lies at an altitude Range of 1160 meters to 2607 meters above sea level, with an annual average temperature Range being 7-20 degrees Celsius and precipitation at 1130 mm - 2390 mm.

TOUR ITINERARY:

DAY 1: To Bwindi impenetrable national park
You will be picked from your hotel in the morning at 7 am, and leave South Westwards. Take a stop over at the Equator then proceed to Bwindi. This drive takes you through the beautiful sceneries of the Western part of Uganda which is sometimes known as the Switzerland of Uganda. Have lunch en route and then proceed to the park passing through the gorgeous undulating landscapes of the Switzerland of Uganda! We then continue for the last part. On the last hill of the landscape is the  vast plane of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo the Virunga volcanoes dominate the view. In the North is the Northern sect of Bwindi national park and in the south is Mgahinga and the Southern part of Bwindi. The drive might be long but is rewarding with beautiful sceneries and artistic African exquisiteness. Dinner and Over night at Buhoma Community bandas OR Travelers rest Hotel if you are tracking gorillas in the Nkuringo family. Travelers Rest Hotel is set out side Kisoro and it proffers a pleasant stay for the tourists, who come to see the endangered mountain gorilla. The hotel, built in a rather colonial style, and utterly refurbished in 1999. Because of its content quality, Dianne Fossey a writer on Gorillas remarked that it was her second home when she was doing research about gorillas. (FB)

 

DAY 2:  Gorilla tracking
This is one of the awaited for day with one of the highlight activities of this tour. Well prepared with you packed lunch, cameras, water, rain jackets, long pair of trouser and jungle boots on, you will assemble for briefing from the rangers about gorilla tracking the great adventure and experience! The time taken to encounter these peaceful primates is unpredictable for it may take1-10 hours. Nevertheless, on encounter, one may be forced to say, it is stunning!!!! After the adventure a certificate awaits the successful tracker. The day is not easy at times but appealing. Return to your lodge for dinner and over night. (FB)

 

DAY 3: To Kampala

Early morning, after breakfast we will drive back Kampala.

In terms of accommodation, the price quote given is based on the budget. The budget type of accommodation is in basic facilities such as hotels/lodges which are structures built separate from each other and may not be self contained.   You however do not need to carry a sleeping back because they have a bed, mattress and mosquitoes net and blanket. 

Included are: Park entry fees, the launch cruise, game drives, Full board accommodations, Ground transportation in a 4x4 vehicle each of you with a window seat. Services of full time English speaking driver guide, Fuel costs and ferry crossing.

Excluded are; Visa fees, tips, accommodation in Kampala, optional activities, laundry fees and any other personal expenses not included in the list above.

What to bring for the most adventurous day!

Carry rain gear/Rain Jacket, insect repellant, a hat and sun screen as the whether is unpredictable.

Wear Jungle shoes for steep muddy slopes.

Ear plugs for those who feel un-comfortable with jungle sounds.
