NATURE WALKS AND CULTURAL PERFORMANCES IN BWINDI
The park has 4 fantastic hiking trails where you have an opportunity to view primates, butterflies, birds and trees.
The Munyanga River trail;
This is an ideal short walk outside the national park where you can see birds and primates of the forest.
The waterfall trail;
Leads to 3 delight crystal waterfalls. This portrays an attractive feature of the tropical rainforest, with colorful array of butterflies, epithytic ferns, tree ferns and orchids.
Muzubijiro Loop Trail;
This trail offers amazing views of the Virungas, Western Rift Valley and Bwindi Forest. The walk is ideal for viewing pre-historic tree ferns and is also a great place for picnic lunch at the top.
The Rushura Trail;
The 3 hours trail offers good views of Congo’s Parc Nationale des Virungas, the western rift valley floor and Lake Edward and the Rwenzori Mountains on clear days.
River Ivi trail;
This trail will occupy you for a full day as it’s the longest in the park, and is highly recommended for Bird watchers.
Buhoma Village Tourist walk;
The walk introduces the guests to several interesting sites which take you up to 3 hours. Here you visit rural homesteads, brewing local beer making, farming, see the customs and practices of the Bakiga and Batwa people as well as experience dancing displays by members of the Batwa community.
Trail in your car;
This includes crossing the rugged centre of the park through Ruhija to view duikers, primates and both forest and grassland bird species. Visit the Bamboo zone and experience a three-hour scenery packed hike to the Mubwindi swamp.
The Bamboo Trail;
The Bamboo trail, the only such area in Bwindi offers panoramic views encompassing L. Bunyonyi and Mafuga forest. The trail is one of the areas of highest diversity in the park with 14 Vegetation types.
CULTURAL PERFORMANCES:
Captivating traditional dances are performed by wo0men and orphan groups in the Evenings. Proceeds go to the communities to improve the welfare of the families that surround the park.
