Murchison Falls National Park derives its name from the Murchison Falls where the mighty river Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are thronged with Hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. Later Transfer Kibale National Park, a park famous for the world’s highest concentration of primates among which is man’s closest relatives – the chimpanzee. This tour provides a thrilling and memorable experience when you en counter chimps swinging from tree branch to tree branch or when the baby chimps are hiding behind their mother. A guided walk in Bigodi Swamp is also rewarding as you will have an opportunity of looking at different bird species. Then later you will en route to Queen Elizabeth National Park – the world’s most biodiversity wildlife sanctuary featuring climbing lions, leopards, hippos, elephants, and buffaloes, lots of small game and rare birds.

Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park
The company guide will meet you and drive northward passing through the famous Luwero Triangle stopping in Masindi for lunch stop. Proceed to drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Drive to the top of the falls for magnificent scenery, breathtaking sight of the raging Nile as it forces it’s way through a rocky gap where millions of gallons of water squeeze in 7 meter gap before it falls (45 meters) in thunderous sound forming a placid river.

Day 2: Game Drive, Launch Cruise

Start the day with an early morning game drive to the north of the river Nile. You are able to view those animals that are unique to the African Savannah like lion, leopard, giraffe, antelope, elephant, and many warthogs. Return to the lodge for lunch before going for an afternoon launch cruise on the Nile River. The cruise takes you to the bottom of the thundering falls where you will see huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds like herons, cormorants, ducks, bee-eaters, kingfishers, skimmers, fish eagle and the rare shoebill. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park – Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will depart for Kibale National Park. You will drive via the Albertine Escarpment of the western Rift valley on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort portal road. This will be a long drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal, passing though verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon,” Overnight at the Lodge.

Day 4: Chimps Trekking, Nature Walk

After breakfast, we shall drive to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking. The activity starts at 8.00 am in the morning. An all day search for chimpanzees and other primates including phoestes, Red-Colobus monkeys, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the dense forest and birds, butterflies and many small insects The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. A visit to Bigodi swamp eco-tourism site in the afternoon is amazing, as we shall encounter rare and beautiful flora and fauna.

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey. A game drive En-route may be rewarded with view of waterbucks, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species.

After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos, bufallos, elephants and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species.

Day 6: Game drive, Launch cruise
After a cup of coffee, you will drive to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking. Expect to see various primates most especially Chimpanzee of different species, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion and many others in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge is a home of very many bird species.

Return back to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax by the side of the swimming pool. Should you have the energy in the afternoon, you may want to go for an evening game drive along the Kasenyi track and Queens mile in the park and expect to see Lions, Elephants, cape buffalo, Warthogs, leopard, hyena, mangoose, waterbucks, kobs, and lots many small animals and birds.
